This 2-hour interactive online course examines Green Building in relation to the use of steel as a primary structural building material, its inherently recyclable nature, and its efficiency of assembly. Particular focus is on what the builder, and crafts need to know regarding the various metal components that make up steel framing. The course also covers light gauge steel framing, structural and non-structural walls, details of assembly, steel flooring systems and fasteners.

The Participant will be able to:

  • List the benefits of Light Gauge Steel framing
  • Recognize typical cold-formed steel sections for framing
  • Understand common steel framing terms
  • List the basic steel framing components
  • Explain how to build an interior non-structural wall
  • Explain lod bearing and curtain wall applications
  • Describe residential applications for steel materials
  • Understand proper steel construction methods and details of assembly
  • Understand residential steel flooring systems
  • Use the proper screws and fasteners for steel framing
